It's a pretty simple decision, Sarah: Does $99 (plus tax and the cost of the game you want to play) justify you playing that game? If yes, get a refurbished one. If no, then don't.
You really weren't interested in the first place and this thread has probably added to the list of reasons why you're not interested in it. Since everything else is multi-platform, I'd just skip this game (or find a friend who's XBOX you can borrow for a period of time to play the game, unless you don't like that option).
And for the record, I don't own either console and have no preference one way or the other.
