I think dropping fatal blow entirely is a good idea. I haven't used fatal blow at all so far (lvl 78 ). About 3rd and 3rd+ job. I went with max FJ and Uppercut.
Max FJ helped training speed during 3rd job a lot, whereas Uppercut I didn't find as essential (I was 1 hitting everything with Slash Storm). However, I use Uppercut a lot now in 3rd+ job, so eh. Also, with FA + BS, you will be traveling the map at decent speed, so max FJ is not as essential imo.
The bad thing about maxing both of those skills is that you will be getting your combos a lot later. Right now I'm working on maxing Tornado Spin (5) and it will take me five more levels to be able to use the FA+TS combo. I do have level 10 FA, 10 Bloody Storm and 10 Mirror Image though. Also, I wasn't able to use the FA + BS combo until level 73 or something like that.
If I could redo things again, I think I would have dropped Fatal Blow entirely. At 3rd job I would've maxed one of the skills and put a few points in the other. As I like mobility, I would've maxed FJ over Uppercut. That's just me though.
PS: I was using the event books, so I didn't get any extra skill points.
