use shield avenger or taunt one mob of the group, and when they are close, use shield avenger, shield avenger is your best skill to make threat in the begining.

There's nothing wrong with using Exorcism to pull. I use Shoot on my prot Warrior all the time. Save taunts for when you actually need them.
