Dealing with smoking

How can you not know someone you have been dating for over a month has been smoking? Just a hug or being nearby would definatly give it away. The smell is so strong.

Same thing I was thinking. It's not easy to tell when someone's a smoker if they don't do it often or smoke a lot at once. That, and they probably wouldn't even smell like smoke if it's such a little amount. That's what I think, anyways.
