Why are you grouping every MMORPG game up as one entity, regardless of difference in gameplay? All that's doing is making your expectations obscenely high, which will lead to massive disappointment
If you mean like, the gameplay value is separated into sub-categories, then I understand where you're going.

Because not everyone has time to play more than one MMORPG.

Edit: Also, define "button masher." WoW limits your APM to 40/60 through GCDs and is about knowing what to use and when to use it rather than technical ability. You don't just pop all your CDs and hope the other guy dies in PvP. I guess melee classes are button mashers in PvE, but that's about it.
