The only time that stats would be more important (for example, a 14 DEX YAC vs a 4 ATT PAC) is when the equip requirement depended on it. For example, if you were a Dexless 2h Sword Crusader and you wanted to use a Stonetooth and the 14 DEX YAC gave you just enough to wield it (thereby doing more dps while training), then it would be better.
That's the only case I can think of. It is better off going low-stat or a regular build even if you can't do higher damage while being statless. :X
