Well the Erza fight i kinda understand, i mean the dude was using Fairytale island's magic against a fairytale person. Generally what happens in a lot of these types of circumstances (manga or movie, but general fantasy [cause real life sucks that way]) is that a good force will never turn against a good person, so fantasy logic dictates that was the right outcome.
Even so,this entire arc has basically emphasized the friendship thing. Sure it gets old, but the manga is still pretty cool, art, dialog, and all.
