Things you need:
Scorpio Blue 640GB 2.5" Internal SATA Hard Drive Specs: Cache 8MB, 5,400 RPM *note must be exact size and RPM of this. dont go any lower or any higher. You can risk going higher up to you. This size (w/h) and RPM is the exact specs as the internal HDD in the ps3 so its best just to stick with those specs
You will need an external hd to copy all your data. 100gb should do? idk how much stuff you have
Also to copy the system update
http://us.playstation.com/support/system.../index.htm *When you finish installing new hard drive and restart your ps3, have the external HD with these files in it. Must copy everything as shown. Capital PS3 folder etc
Finally hope and pray your save data is not corrupted when you sync it back to your ps3
