Think on it this way, would you rather have used a white scroll for every single attempt?
as it stands, 9 slots at 10% success comes out to about 90 white scrolls, assuming you have one success every ten attempts.
All I'm saying, is he got his 27 attack gloves, and he used a hell of a lot less than 90 white scrolls.
Rather than waste a white scroll for every single one of those failures, he took the gambler's route, and came out ahead in the end.
Scrolling a pair of gloves with 10%'s, and only blowing through 30-40 WS is amazingly lucky.
