At the very most, if I was using AP items on Amumu, I may simply use either Abyssal Scepter or Rabadon's Deathcap, or both. Its meant to give my abilities an additional dose of deadliness. But I usually focus on tanking items first, and get AP items as a last resort, "side" item.
