People peached that Xin was too powerful / OP, because he excelled in 1v1 scenarios, AS HE'S SUPPOSED TO, but sucked ass in 5v5 teamfights, which is what the game is focused around. Even NMST admitted that the nerfs were due to him pubstompping in 1v1 scenarios and if you built him in a funky way, AS/CDR.

The funny thing about that, NMST claimed that "you were in the air more than you were on the ground" before the nerfs, yet even with the funky build, you'd only knock-up an enemy champion for 3 seconds over the span of 7 seconds, which meant you were on the ground for the remaining 4. Last I checked 4 > 3.
Then again, Riot doesn't even know half the pomegranate they do to LoL anymore.
