He's not using a crossbow, so his damage isn't calculated with the crossbow damage formula. It's based on weapon, not class. Which frankly, sucks since your previous attack skills are probably tied to your previous weapon, for example, the spear/polearm only crusher and fury, so if your new stat build isn't in line with your old one, you'd probably do terrible damage.
