Miss all the old days. Hearing Lith Harbor music still makes me teary eyed. Just remember the days of the game, when you first started in Maple Island, making your way up to Amherst and then South Perry. Then exploring the world of ellinia, and it's multitude of trees.
Pig Beach was the best map ever, before KPQ. Before the mark of the beta, which a lot of people no longer have, and after the mark of the beta. 'Twas the best hat in the game at the time, mainly because a lot of people loved the all-stat stuff. As well as, we didn't understand stats that well, at the time. It was only the beginning of being live. When Tespia was still open for the following weeks.
Now, leveling is a breeze. I'm actually bored of leveling now. It's way too easy now...went from 70 to 88 in 2~3 days, with one 2x event/2 hours of that. Sure, some people achieve slightly slower rates, or are faster, but damn. Not even full constant play/a whole day of play/no more than 10 hours a day. In fact, I don't even remember playing 10 hours a day now.
Let's go back to the olden days. Victoria island wasn't compact, we had a lot of maps and exploring. And random ass leveling. Everyone had fun, no one cared about stats. Orbis was the next best spot for 30's and such. Oh, and the toenail glitch! Anyone remember that abuse? I wish I could've done that. Hell, even that abuse wasn't horrible. Last year was full of rollbacks, and I wasn't playing then. Lurked SP and kept updated on happenings.
Hackers were ultimately detested, and most players would scramble to report them. It was just vaccs, though. Off map vaccing was ridiculous. Dual Ghost Pirates was the best partying spot I ever played in. Finding a party there was a bit hard though. And unlike other maps, it didn't require godlike stuff/stats/items.
Leveling was hard, but eh. Ignoring that leveling was hard, the exploration, random partying, and getting noobs killed in the henesys pit of doom. Trapping them in SW. Dropping mesos and guiding them into places. Summon sacks! The memories. Leveling was hard, but I never really cared too much. 2x was fine. 2x MULTIPLYING however. 10x+.....I did love the free 4x/8x or whatever it was, and I didn't really get rollback'd. My DK just level hopped. Comparing big bang to that, the leveling speed wasn't so bad. It was a slower big bang, and leveling felt good. Now, if you overdo it, it becomes a chore. Especially with multiple characters.
Hero's gladius was also awesome and rare. The old gladius was a cool piece of fashion.
And the beginning of the first MS private servers. Gaw, the memories.
Even if leveling was a pain, at least there were people to chat with. It's possible to solo to 100 and past that with no one to talk to, now.
Ah..and the time everyone thought stuff like tradehack and script editing was fake/illegal. All sorts of mythical hacks were illegal and didn't exist! and are now common.
/insert tears
If trading leveling speed and such would get some old/not so pain in the ass script kiddying back, then it'd be a warm welcome. It's heart breaking to see 'high' leveled people get banned for no 'real reason'.
