It's really tough choosing whether or not to take the knife. On the one hand, a knife is a great tool and could quite possibly be useful down the road. However, we don't want our protagonist to be mistaken for the person who is going around mysteriously stabbing and killing people.
[edit] What are the bottles in our inventory made of? (I don't recall if that was mentioned in previous entries.) If they're glass bottles we could break and use them as a makeshift knife if need be down the road.
