The harm that it DOES do, which you're missing, is that it requires fixing, which takes time, time costs money. The benefit it brings (if any, judging by its popularity) is deemed to be overshadowed by the cost to fix it (at least I myself think so).
The main point is that there is justification for removing content, as contrasted here:

The line just has to be drawn, and though it is not my place to be the artist of ethics, I'd like to point out that it actually makes sense to remove certain parts of the content.
