Yes, the rate of generation is relatively slow compared to old methods, but still miles and miles faster than normal accumulation.
Basically, people were scripting it so that they would generate max coins, then sell them, then generate max coins, and so on, all without moving (since the two NPCs required are right next to each other).
They know about that part of the exploit, the 0 mesos an item was a response to that. Regardless, the generation of mesos was too slow to warrant a roll back. That person had to have been botting for at least 1 and a half hours to 2 hours to get that many. He barely gets any mesos for turning it all in (36m-56m with coins left).
I'm not saying this exploit did nothing to our economy, I'm saying it's not as bad as people are making it out to be and that there was no reason for a roll back.
