Why would they mass ban people later?
Whatever they decide to do, or not do, will be over with once this maintenance is done. If they remove items or ban people, they're doing it now.
I see no reason to leave things as they are now, and then a couple weeks down the line ban whoever came in touch with tainted items or meso.
But, Nexon being Nexon... Probably safest to avoid FM or anything to do with this event, even after the current issue is "resolved". Just in case, you know, a new exploit appears. (Easy for me to say, I'm hiding in LHC except for occasional repotting forays. No event items drop there, so I'm not even tempted to redeem them.)
