Cup ramen (or soup in general i suppose) will be your bestest friend. Ever. Nice and warm so it soothes the pain, there's no chewing involved, and it's good! When i was a freshman in high school and had my braces for some time already they served them in the cafeteria for $1 each. I was in love. And then they took them away from me the following year. 
Aside from that, believe it or not, chewing actually helps you adjust to the pain quicker. If you really can't bear the pain (after reading your description of your V shaped jaw i'd imagine it's insane) and want to let the pain subside naturally try using your tongue against the roof of your mouth to break up softer foods. Helps for popcorn.
