The rumormill that is the IRC is saying that Exhaust might get removed in the near future! A modified ignite will take its place instead. Apparently the cause of all this is the beefy DPS issue.
I haven't seen any real AD Alistars. Then again, I haven't seen many Alistars anyways.
Trample just helps you push back minions more, not necessarily farming. I don't know the tics and all that stuff, but its low low damage is kinda disappointing. Word on the forums is that Rylai's actually works with Trample, but I have no idea since I don't own Alistar.
I don't know what you are thinking, but RoA is a fairly steep hill to climb in terms of investment and gold required.

Gone are the days of old trinity force/ad alistar that eats towers.
I still run sheen on him but not triforce as it's not worth it now. It's looking like my build would be Sheen, RoA, Spirit Visage, Cooldown boots(or mercs depending), Frozen Heart, Sunfire Cape.
That build is extremely cost effective and gives him great survivability+some good AoE damage with his Q/Passive/Sunfire cape.
