Eh I suppose that wasn't entirely accurate, but I guess I've just had enough good Irelia players who get 2-3 kills at the end of a team fight to think that way. I know there are some terrible Irelia players out there who don't do that well, but I still think her kit gives her a lot better chance to perform late/post team fight cleanup than most champs.
