Even today, the conflict is supposedly represented through the Republicans and Democrats, but truth-be-told, it's quite apparent that even the Republicans are in favor of a powerful Federal government now.

Notice also that Bush willingly invokes the concept of the unitary executive theory which, in his interpretation, says that nothing he does as commander-in-chief can be against the law because that would be "unconstitutional" 8)
