Basically it made a lot of money and not a lot of progress even though it had the opportunity to.
It's the Avatar of gaming consoles: pretty aesthetics that every dolt and their mom will droll over, but anyone that's actually watched Citizen Kane (A.K.A. played a game that was good for being good and not good for being nostalgic or involving getting off your ass) can see the obvious flaws beyond the one good mechanic that in all honesty isn't all that good (or I should say "perfect").
