Serious question (but I'm still going to be expecting dumb answers, from certain people). I'm asking purely out of curiosity. When it comes to anime, and this question is more-so for people that watches new anime that usually comes out. What makes you 'stick' to an anime series? What kind of stuff do you usually 'drop'?
Spoiler
As for me, though it's awkward, most of the stuff I've been watching does seem to have onomatopoeia, but that's not why I watch it (though some people likes to make fun of me for this ; ~; YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, F`UCKERS).
Back then, I used to watch a lot of harem and Slice-of-Slice stuff when I started out. Though as time progressed on, stuff like that becomes bland and uninteresting. These days, I'm usually thrilled to find an anime series that has horror and psychological elements into it. I really love stuff that makes me think and 'wonder'. I noticed that I'm becoming more attracted to things such as Elfen Lied, Mirai Nikki (manga), and Higurashi. I'm eventually going to pick up Jigoku Shoujo, because the description of it interested me. I guess stuff like Mnemosyne was okay too.
I also think my tastes in anime can be extremely erratic, as things I did like, I now hate or no longer have an interest in. In fact, most things I have watched, I wouldn't even rate most of them highly, I think most are mediocre at best. I like watching anime with cute little girls in it too, though I dropped K-On! because I couldn't stomach it. Same goes for Haruhi, though I might try picking up Haruhi again. I only watched one episode anyways..
