And you rush zhonyas on kennen. He's not a tank and has not good hp unless you get rylais beforehand. And your base defensive stats are inferior to chos, iirc.
He doesn't need roa. HP and AP. HP that's useful, yes but not needed. HP is only better if they have true damage such as another cho. He'll benefit more from a negatron and a chain vest and a blasting wand than roa. He'll have plenty of hp with his stacks, which is one reason he's such a good tank. He can focus on resists and save gold on hp.
An example of my optimal build is:
Dorans Ring
boots 1
Aegis (if no one else gets it)/ Blasting wand
Finish boots (sorcs or lucidity imo)
blasting wand if not already purchased/ negatron
Finish abyssal/ Get chain vest if needed
Finish zhonyas
Defensive/ Offensive item of choice
The reason for lack of banshees is because you should not be getting focused vs logical teams. If they are focusing you, you should be winning team fights anyway or just working around their team to avoid such an event.
This build leaves you at 2.9k health at level 18 with only a doan's ring, boots, abyssal scepter and a chain vest, and gives you 85 ap. If you opt for an aegis you get more hp. This is all without runes and masteries at level 18.
If you get abyssal there's no need to get zhonya's since one ap item is more than enough. Abyssal which imo isn't even that great of an item would be enough and it would be time to focus on countering the other teams main sources of damage. Zhonya's is a complete waste of money on cho and there is a reason no cho gath you play with will ever have it in there build, in fact I challange any of you to look at cho gath builds when you see them play and count how often you'll see zhonya's hourglass.. He's a disabling tank I think you've forgotten his role in the team. Also tank or not you can see the difference in the dmg done to a char with the armor or not.. 50 armor is not that big of a deal, and if you bought a chain vest you're better off turning it into something FAR more useful than zhonya's hourglass.. A chain vest can be built up to randuins which will do far more than the hourglass. RoA is an amazing choice on him and there is a reason why 8-9/10 cho gaths you play with will get it, and it isn't because they like purple wands.
My opinion
Dorans ring, Mercs or Lucidity, RoA/Aegis whichever you feel is better to get first, then you build to counter the other team (Thornmail, FoN, Randuins, Frozen Heart) and if your game is going into the crazy amounts of time GA is always a nice addition to an unkillable giant ant.
