Star Driver 25: FABULOUS!
Wow, that finale was way over the top, in a TTGL kind of way. I could give my overall opinion of the show and tell about how sub-par I thought it was overall, but I'm too
after watching this episode.
Checklist of this episode's contents:
Crazy, unexplained plot twists coming out of nowhere? Check
Coherent plot? Unnecessary
Super awesome animation with fabulous rainbow mecha fights? Aww Yea
Seriously, the animation quality was excellent. I think they probably put more effort and money into the mecha fights in this episode than all the other ones combined. I also really liked how they brought back all of the awesome songs from their soundtrack, like Monochrome, to the fights, as it added an extra layer of awesomeness to it. Sure, the whole story of the finale made very little sense and many things were left unexplained, but who cares when your mechas are shooting fabulous rainbows and you have TTGL world-saving-punch fight enders?
Bakuman 25: Yeah! They got serialized.
Not much happened in this episode besides the trademark waiting for results, but it was a nice season finale to see that Takagi and Mashiro finally got serialized. Also, Mashiro and Miho finally talk to each other for the first time... over the phone.
I liked Bakuman in its first few episodes because it seemed fresh and creative, but it really started to get dull for a long time in the middle when basically the same thing happened over and over and the focus of the show was on the two main characters' love relationship drama. However, the show really started to pick up again after the other mangaka were introduced and brought something new to the table. For this reason, I'll look forward to the second season and hope that it can stay interesting.
edit:
Nichijou 1: What did I just watch?
I mean that in a good way. This show is just a compilation of random happenings and that's what makes it good. Super explosions, students riding goats to school, and projectile shooting toes are only a few of the things that are in this episode. Admittedly, I don't understand many of the Japanese references used in jokes, but a lot of the absurd stuff is still funny. The scene transitions and animation shorts were also pretty out there. The android and the professor are probably my favorite characters so far.
Hanasaku Iroha 1: Granny slapped
It's only been one episode, but I already really like the personality of the main character. The animation in the show is excellent and the rest of the characters introduced so far seem interesting. This definitely has potential.
