On the completely rational hand, these are hardly the most substantial hacks we have ever seen. :[ I don't understand how this means Maple has finally hit the pomegranateter when in the past we have had exploits that endangered accounts (I think there was a compromise issue at one point with the website), mass duping... Now, the economy may be in the pomegranateter, but is that really anything new?
I do think NEXON has taken on a few too many games recently (with too little staff) as I do remember when we would see the "SO-AND-SO has been banned" notices from GMs periodically during the day. That was nice; perhaps not totally effective, but it at least reassured the players. Wish they would bring that kind of habit back.
The biggest problem with these exploits isn't how damaging they are. The biggest problems with these exploits is that, knowing Nexon America, they will remain in the game for weeks to months to probably even years. And the more exploits that exist that remain unfixed, the less incentive there is to play the game as a legit, which eventually leads to one of two things: going the hacker route or going the quitter route. Furthermore, these exploits mentioned in this thread are only the recent exploits. There's hundreds more out there that aren't getting fixed at all and even some that hurt Nexon's overall income.
What Nexon needs to do is to delay Chaos, delay any new content updates, halt any work on adding new stuff to Maple period. Then, focus on putting forth series of patches to fix all the crap that's making the game such a depressing ordeal for legits. Next, hire more GM's to stand-by per server and start banhammering away. And finally, review over all the thousands of tickets we've sent to them regarding the same hackers damaging everybody's accounts and DO something about it.
