I liked R/S more than D/P and R/B myself. The storyline was just okay and the abundance of water routes was retardedly bad but I liked the overall progression of the game, and Hoenn was a pretty cool place.
The charater for May/Brendan and Wally weren't done as well as they could have been though.
Another thing I thought of for storyline improvement is perhaps Magma/Aqua could be manipulating Wally into awakening Groudon/Kyogre.

And now Magma/Aqua believes that Wally, who fits the description of young, frail trainer , can do the opposite and awaken one of them to fulfill their pretty retarded land/ocean expansion thing.
...Wally will have the ability to talk to Pokemon like N, and it should be revealed somewhere that Ghetsis is his father.
