The only time a Paladin shouldn't dual charge is when a monster's lightning bonus is better than all the rest, which is not the case for Castle Golems (as they're neutral to Holy)
If a monster is Lightning weak, and neutral/resistant to the rest, or Lightning neutral, and resistant to the rest, you use Lightning alone. In every other case (except all-resist) you want to be dual charging.
Lightning, as a secondary charge, always adds damage. But it can't be the primary charge if you're dual charging, so you lose most of the elemental advantage to Light-weak stuff.
Anyone want to work up a chart of how much CO helps each class? The Bishop doesn't need it unless they're the one casting MW. I think Heroes benefit most from it, but I'm not sure.
