But, if that was the case, they could've just made it so that instead than twice a day, the portal script only allowed you in once, which would've really been the easiest solution of them all.
I don't quite get what they're trying to do.
Apparently they do still want us doing it twice a day, but in a party. Notice that unlike other summoning items (Eye of Fire, White Essence, Lady's Comb), you don't have to have a Crack to enter Pap's room. Just the Medal, which you never have to drop. So, it's definitely set up so two (or more) people enter together, one of them uses his only crack to summon, and he can still enter the next time, when someone else summons.
Also, changing the script to once a day is probably a bit more complicated than changing the "tradeable" flag on the item. They preferred not to do it on their own.
