Welcome to AcornStory, our ongoing feature helping players get started in Maple World everything from choosing a class to finding friends to understanding combat to tips for participating in an online community. MapleStory is easy to learn, but once you learn the basic game mechanics, where do you go and what do you do? Read on to find out!

The Ultimate Explorer

In an earlier AcornStory, we discussed how the March update changed the Cygnus Knights. Cygnus Knights are special characters who pledge their service to the Empress Cygnus. Their goal is the defense of Maple World against the coming of the Black Mage.

After the events of the Big Bang, the Cygnus Knights realize that their mortal enemy, the Black Mage, is returning to Maple World. To fulfill what they see as their destiny, the Cygnus Knights forge an extraordinary alliance with the Explorers in which each Knight will bind themselves to an Explorer. Each will "borrow" a bit of the other's power and transcend their previous limits. Eventually however, the Cygnus Knights come to realize that in order to reach their full potential, they must accept that the Cygnus Knights have failed.

Those Cygnus Knights who come to that realization embark on a radical plan they will give their powers to a new generation of Explorers. These Ultimate Explorers will bring the best of the Cygnus Knights to the Explorers in an effort to stop the Black Mage and redeem the Cygnus Knights.

Creating Your Ultimate Explorer

In order to create an Ultimate Explorer, you must first level your Cygnus Knights up to level 120, go through your final job advancement, and complete the quest named Empresss Grace. Once your Cygnus Knight completes the requirements, simply report to the Empress Cygnus in Ereve. To travel to Ereve from Victoria Island, travel to Six Path Crossway and climb up the tree in the center of the map. From there, head up to find a boat to take you to Ereve, the home of the Empress Cygnus. When you speak with the Empress, you will be given the chance to create your Ultimate Explorer.

Be sure you have a free slot to create your Ultimate Explorer!

[SIZE=2]When you accept the quest Ultimate Explorer from Empress Cygnus, a menu will appear.

On this menu, you must create a name for Ultimate Explorer, and you may change their face, hairstyle, and class. Your Ultimate Explorer will retain your Cygnus Knights gender and skin color. You do not have to choose the Explorer class that matches your current Cygnus Knight. You can choose something youre used to, or try something completely new!

Your new Ultimate Explorer will appear on the Select a Character menu in the same world as your Cygnus Knight that created them, ready for new adventures!

Choose carefully! Each level 120 Cygnus Knight may only create one Ultimate Explorer. Even if that Ultimate Explorer is deleted, they can never make another. You will have to level another Cygnus Knight to 120 in order to create another Ultimate Explorer.

New Powers!

The awesome power and even more awesome sacrifice of your Cygnus Knight offers several major benefits to your new Ultimate Explorer.

Ultimate Explorers do not start at the bottom; instead, new Ultimate Explorers begin at level 50 with all the skills and abilities available to an Explorer class of that type has available at that level.

Your Ultimate Explorer will share a locker for cash items with all of your regular Explorers.

Your Ultimate Explorer begins the game with an exclusive Cygnus Knight skill that corresponds to the job that the Ultimate Explorer is closest to.

Warriors: Mihiles Soul Driver [/SIZE][/SIZE]

- Attack multiple monsters four times at once via the power of soul.

Magicians: Ozs Flame Gear - This creates a fire barrier around the caster. Monsters inside the barrier receive damage continuously.

Bowmen: Irenas Wind Piercing - Delivers a strong single-blow attack to multiple enemies.

Thieves: Eckharts Vampire - Attacks multiple enemies four times. Absorbs some of the damage and restores HP.

Pirates: Hawkeyes Shark Wave Damages multiple enemies in front of you.


These skills automatically increase in power every time your Ultimate Explorer gains 10 levels unto you reach level 100.


Your Ultimate Explorer will also have the following skill at creation:

Empress' Might: This is a passive skill that allows you to equip items up to ten levels higher than your current level. Note that your character's statistics must still meet the item's minimum values in order to use it.

Fortunately for your Ultimate Explorer, he or she wont enter the world without equipment that befits their new status. Each Ultimate Explorer comes complete with a set of the Empresss Fine gear.
