Things tend to go in a circle, you work for money, you use that money to survive till you get more money from work.
The hard part is getting INTO that circle. Either you have to start working first, or start surviving until you get the money from work first.
Idealistically, I think you should start saving up from now, and allow enough money to survive on for a good quarter at least while you look for work to maintain that lifestyle.
