Bully beatdown

For one, we don't live in the same world we did when you were a kid. Bullying intolerance is at an all time high so there ARE other options. Schools are being mandated to take action the moment they learn about this sort of thing and it's constantly being brought to light when they don't. Their jobs and livelihood are the line when they don't take action.

Nope. It's actually harder for a teacher to lose their job than one would think. The most they can really do is contact parents, and in most cases the parents know and really just don't care. That's enough for them to show that they've tried to put a stop to it, and that's all they have to do. They have no power to do anything more, it's not their children, and they can't lay a hand on them.

If a child is being bullied they need to be encouraged to tell an adult and then let the adults deal with it. If the parent of the bully doesn't take action then the law will. Parents need to be involved and support their kids in the RIGHT way, not by teaching them to go pound the pomegranate out of other people. Saying 'that's the way it's been done forever!' doesn't justify poor decision making.

But maybe you're right in that 99% won't get it, because you clearly don't.

What law? I don't know what kind of crazy place Canada is, but children don't usually get prosecuted over here for calling Sally a fat homo snail and sitting gum wads into her hair and occasionally hitting her when there aren't adults around to witness or stop them. Even the punk in this video wasn't really doing much. He was acting tough with name calling and doing some jabs, but it wasn't even anything that big.

You said you verbally bullied kids. You think something like that is easy to fight against with authorities?

Teaching kids an eye for an eye is a bad thing. You should teach them to go to the right authorities (teachers, parents etc etc).

Things could get out of hand. Example, someone smashes your car, you don't go and find his car and smash it. You file a police report. If you were to smash out his windows, both of you will be treated as criminals.

This will lead to them being walked over. It's entirely situational. Not everything can be handled perfectly in the same manner. Going to an authority figure in this situation will not do the kid any good. There's really not much that adults can do about bullying.

You file a police report for a car being smashed. What about about for a gun pointed into your face? There are some battles that the "correct" authorities just can't help you with, at least not immediately. You can't even file a report on something unless it actually happens, in most cases. In other words, once it's possibly too late. The cases are not the same. As such, there are different cases of bullying. Having someone call you shitbreath every day is something that'd be out of line to punish with a slam like this, but that's not the same kind of bullying as physically assaulting someone.


Pick different moves for different battles. You'll lose a lot more of them if you think that the same thing will work for every situation. This doesn't just go for big instances for bullying, but even small everyday stuff that everyone goes through.

Honestly, the kid handled it in a very level headed manner. He shook off his attacker while also sending a message. He didn't go into a blind rage and start continuing an assault, or try attacking the others that were watching from the side. One of them even walked up to him in an attempt to egg him on, but there was no physical contact. He made his message known, he's tired of putting up with their crap. He walked away calmly, without any excess violence.

Whether it'll come back to bite him later or not something he'll have to deal with though.

lol wow. Sorry to say peeps sarah's right. I didn't have many bullies when I grew up, maybe like 3 total, and all 3 of them ended up being my friends because, I learned to laugh and just joke around. There's only one I had to stand up too, but that didn't lead to a friendship just future bitter confrontations.

If you stand up to a bully, you do it verbally, you talk to them reasonably that's all I had to do. Bullies will simply respect the act if you talk back in a non-aggressive way. Then you just joke around with em and they end up being your friends. WORKED FOR ME@@

Not everyone is the same. It's cool that you had high class bullies when growing up, but having idiots as bullies is an entirely different story. You think they'll really care what you want to say when they just want to look cool in front of their friends and make some pocket cash from you?

Fact remains, physical violence is not the only way to defend yourself. I myself was also bullied when I was 12-13, then I decided to stop giving a pomegranate and suddenly everyone seemed to like me. Looking back on it I wonder why it seemed that hard back then `-`

Cool story. Let me know when you're jumped on a daily basis just because some punks in your school find it fun to make coolaid spill from your nose, then tell me it's cool to just ignore it. Though this would be a case where authorities can actually do something, while in most others they won't.



Main point I'm trying to make is that you need to know when to pick your battles, not be a complete lard-head and tackle everything the same way. You need to adapt. You need to think logically what the best course of action could be. If you try being the nice guy all the time, you'll just get walked over. It's the nice ones that snap with a school shooting because they try doing things the "proper" way and see that they were lied to because it doesn't work out at all. I feel icky for that line, it's a rather gross generalization, so let me just restate it by saying that there are some that snap because of that feeling of helplessness.

It'd be nice if our world was sparkles and rainbows like the moves, where everything can be solved in a peaceful manner where everyone wins and gets stickers for being good little boys and girls. Unfortunately, you have to face reality. Sometimes you have to toughen up. Sometimes it's okay to be soft. Just don't be full jelly or steel.

We're humans, and we're able to logically come up with our own solutions. Don't try solving every puzzle the same way. Because we're humans, we're also prone to making mistakes. Not every decision you make will be the best, but you're not perfect, so you'll just have to deal with the decision that seemed the best to you at the time.

We learn from out mistakes. Sometimes you have to learn through forces. The kid slammed on the ground may go for revenge, or take his anger out, but do you think he'll ever forget about the day he tried to act like a cool street punk in front of his friends and got a face full of cement? Regardless of what he does now, this is something that will leave a lasting imprint on him. As a human, it's up to him to decide if he wants to take this experience and actually learn from it.

I don't know him, so I won't claim to know how he'll react. He could end his bullying days right now. He could toughen up in order to regain his lost sense of pride. He could forever fear people taller than him. Whatever road he takes, it's his road to walk.

Different situations.
Different people.
Different environments.
So why would you apply the same methods across them all as some universal answer, when it doesn't always work?
