Iowa Woman Jailed for Thinking about an Abortion, among other cases.

If putting the child up for adoption isn't an acceptable solution what would be?

If it's come to that, then that's fine, but I just don't see it as the best solution. If the mother can not handle raising a child and no other family member will be able to raise it for her, then it's either that or an abortion, provided it's as early as possible. Just because I don't find it an acceptable solution, doesn't mean it shouldn't be a solution at all. I see it as more of a last resort, especially if you don't want an abortion. But I've seen people go "just put it up for adoption," as if it will automatically solve the problem when there's a chance the child could wind up with no family at all.

It is there as an option but it's personally not an option I would primarily go for. There's still the pregnancy process itself and to me, it's a depressing thought to give birth and then give the child away. At least it would be to me, I can understand if people would see it a different way but to me, it's less emotionally painful to abort as early as possible than to have a child, possibly forming an emotional bond in that moment, and then giving it away, knowing that you can't keep it and knowing it may not even find a (good) foster home.

I'm not a mother so I wouldn't know for sure on that last bit. I'm honestly no debater, so I just know my post will be chewed out somehow. :I
