In their defense:
1) They might not have realized the shutdown wasn't clean until it came time to turn the servers back on.
What, you never booted up a Windows comp just to have it say "windows didn't shut down properly" even though you don't remember doing anything wrong? Probably some over-enthusiastic intern turned the power off, or changed the system time, before all processes were down and files closed. Hopefully this won't mean we lose some data (the dreaded R word).
2) You're not supposed to be checking the website before the scheduled game-up time anyway.
