Party exp formula is as follows:
Exp = monster_exp * (damage_part + level_part)
where
damage_part = 0.6 * (damage_you_did / total_monster_hp)
level_part = 0.4 * (your_level / sum_of_party_levels)
Multiply by 1.5 if HS, but the total can't add up to more than 1.1x the monster's exp.
The level_part is, of course, the same for all monsters on the (single-spawn) map, regardless of who killed them. Changes just a bit when a party member levels.
The damage_part can be 0 (if you didn't hit that particular monster at all) or 0.6 of the monster's exp (if you killed it solo). However, taken over time, it's pretty much 0.6 * (your_dpm / sum_of_party_dpm).
For example, suppose a party of three attackers, A, B, and C. B and C are equal in damage, A does double their DPM.
If this party cycles the map together, all attacking the same monster, then A will do half the damage and B and C will do a quarter, for every monster.
If each solos his own monsters, A will kill twice as many as either B or C.
Either way, A will end up with 50% of the overall damage_part, and B and C with 25% each.
So, in that sense, it doesn't matter what the strategy. Saying things like "he's ks'ing me" is meaningless.
What everyone wants is for as many monsters to die, per hour, as possible. Depending on the spawn and on people's mobbing ability, this could be achieved either by moving together or by letting each have his or her own platform(s).
In addition to the above normal exp, LHC has special party bonus which is supposedly 50% * party_size * Exp (as calculated above). It didn't quite work out for me, might be that HS doesn't affect it.
