The Free Market needs a change.

I highly doubt that Nexon will abandon its current system. It generates way too much money with its shop permits, mushies, and owls.

Pretty sure no one reasonable suggested an NX-less FM. Obviously that would never fly by Nexon.
However, fixing the market would lead to more people using it, resulting in more NX expenditure.

Seeing as how Nexon won't change to an MTS or Auction House GUI for Free Market

I'm pretty sure that just over a year ago, no one would see them revamping the entire damn game.
Unless they flat out said it will never changing, saying it won't is just dumb.

1) Shop Grids. No more taking up multiple spaces for shops.
2) Automatically have NPC's at each grid spot when a shop is opened. There's no need to sit in FM all day just because you need to sell something.
3) A shop opening fee of maybe 5m. Meso sinks are nice. Only one shop may be opened per character.
4) All players have an initial 8 slots to sell items. To sell more items, they need to purchase NX, that way, Nexon will still generate money.
5) All shops will have a 24 hour countdown before closing. This is already implemented.
6) Searching items in FM can be done at the FM entrance. 1m per search and scans only the current channel you're in and lists the prices of all the items. Once again, meso sinks are nice.
7) Upon searching the items, if results are found, an addition 1m to teleport to the said shop would needed to be paid. Once again, meso sinks are nice.

1) I like this simply for cleanliness. Honestly, if there's a search function, there's no reason to browse the FM though.
3) Mesos sinks are nice, but that's a rather extravagant price. Would you be able to adjust your inventory without having to repay the 5m? Because such a price pretty much kicks anyone without millions of mesos out of the market and starts your profit at -5m.
4) Giving characters free slots results in an easily abused system. Would this prevent someone from opening a shop on another character on the same account? Even if it did, you wouldn't be able to stop people from abusing mules.
Creating a shop should either be NX-less or totally NX-reliant. Since the former will never happen, they should keep requiring NX to set up a shop.
That said, I think 7-day shops are stupid. I've never bought one purely because it's a ridiculous amount of NX for such a small window.
5) I like this idea. Curious why you said this is already being implemented though.
6) I like this idea, but not the cost. I'd personally be willing to pay $1m per search, but a lot of people wouldn't be.
7) Yeah, this shouldn't happen. Meso sinks are nice, but highway robbery is not. That means searching in the first place is basically just a price check.

Actually, I didn't lose sight of that in the least bit. While I do understand that not all players have access to 5m readily to open up their shops (and keep in mind, this is a hypothetical amount for a meso fee as it can be 3m or 10m eitherway), this will also reduce the amount of people using mule characters to hog up spots in the FM just to be able to sell more goods and also reduce the idea of people deliberately selling extra low just to sell an item off. The NX costs are for those who wish to earn a little bit more with their shops through using extra slots all while providing Nexon the income they seek from shop permits, mushies, and more.

Yeah, you did. You're punishing everyone without actually fixing a problem in the process.
Using your pricing plan, people would still use mules to sell more goods.

I believe the current NX:meso ratio is 1:15, no?
5k for 8 extra slots for 7 days would be equivalent to 75m mesos. That's 10.7m per day, double what it would be to just use a mule.

And what's the problem with selling an item low just to sell it? I actually hate that this is not a bigger part of Maplestory economics because I'd much rather get a bit of mesos for my items than have them sit in my inventory forever.

You guys are thinking of solutions to patch holes within holes. If packet editing is eliminated, some of the measures would not be necessary.

No, we're thinking of solutions to the mess that is the FM system.

Fixing packet editing wouldn't stop the long-ass tread through the FM.
It wouldn't fix the invisibility of most shops.
It wouldn't fix the spastic pricing that occurs all over Maplestory.

Though, if we are going to go off-topic, let me ask a rhetorical question:
Does anyone actually believe Nexon can eliminate packet editing?
Because, if they could, I'd think they would seeing as it would eliminate all hacks.

Don't get me wrong: I know absolutely nothing about how the packet editing/sending gadgetry works. I've never bothered looking into it. But it doesn't seem to me that it's something that Nexon can just stop.

Instead, you should be able to register your mushroom shops to an npc outside free or for a fee so people can browse through the list of locations. You can track's permit shops but you can't with hired merchants.

Such a system would only benefit big merchants and not the average buyer.
The lack of the average shop being visible would persist.

This is exactly what I was thinking. These suggestions are because people are sick of D/C spams, map crashes, botting, monopolies. Why can't Nexon just fix those to begin with instead of making new stuff to avoid them?

Ya'll act like there is some easy fix, despite all these things occuring for over five years.
This same company let three different meso exploits occur this year despite them all operating on the same principle.
