Are we really that needful of challenges that we have to deny changing a time-consuming process to be more accessible?
I'd rather we save tons of players hours of time spent clicking and playing 'remember the prices' so they can get back to the ACTUAL game, and perhaps better yet, using that freed up time FARMING to bring more items to sell into the market. That sounds a lot better and more engaging than players surfing FM 'drop hunting' for cheap prices instead.
The auction house feature may seemingly kill merchanting, but i've witnessed in other games that if all the prices out there are shown side by side then suddenly players are gonna try harder to price lower to ensure sales over trying to get the 'expensive spot'. In the case of MS: just maybe, not so much merchanting would be needed in the first place if such were the case.
