[COLOR="blue"]Completely ignoring it means you're not conversing, meaning you're not conversing well. Having the option to completely ignore it also means you don't ''have to'' engage in the conversations in the first place, so do you want to actually ignore -everything- or just ignore the random BS he says?

Just now saw your edit. You can still set his crap straight without -insulting- the man and giving him a hard time about it. Go about it maturely and if he's not taking it in then give up on it and let him be. It's hard to teach older people.[/COLOR]
