The problems with scenarios is that they're not general. They're really just scenarios, and outside of the conditions you've imposed on such a system, they don't function as you might imagine. Unless your scenario is the priori behind your question, in which case, you're talking about yourself? lol
In actuality, student-teacher "relationships" (as you call it) happen quite often, especially on the university level. I used to have a teacher in her 60s who was in charge of the yearbook committee. Many people texted her, and she "hung out" with students. She held movie nights and other socializing events for her students. I have never gone, but she made a tight-knit community. Nothing wrong with that.
The availability heuristic doesn't always work. Being professional doesn't dictate being detached.
