Student-Teacher Relationships.

The best thing one can do is have a good professional relationship with them until they're no longer grading you. After that you're pretty much free to do anything. I like to talk and drink coffe/smoke with some of the last semester teachers. I have friends that go out with them to bars and stuff.

You're right, we do all have lives outside of the work place. A teacher's, however, should consist of possibly her husband, friends from high school/college, and family. A student's should consist of friends their own age and family.
