It's quite possible that you were more familiar with the best way of "working" the spider map; what I have been doing is going to one side, clearing the top "leg" moving toward the center, repeating for the next leg down, then going to the bottom and cleaning out the mob that has formed by then. Next, I repeat for the other side. I'm usually solo, but if partied I would probably have the other person (assuming not an I/L) stay up in the legs, and I'd stick to the bottom with the huge mobs. I haven't spent much time there, and I would totally not be surprised if there's a better way to solo WS. 
As for LUK vs. LUKless, my points are probably screwed up somehow.
I think I have 73 base LUK. I can use a Dark Ritual (borrowed) as long as I don't take off my Z-helm, and I'm still wearing my 7x clothing. I haven't added LUK since 70, though, and will probably reset some later depending on what I decide for "end-game" equipment.
