The Battlefield Bad Company games, although worth playing, aren't quite as deep or big as the main Battlefield games. DICE isn't exactly the company to tack on an installment to a series whenever they feel like. they started developing the Frostbite engine after BF2 but decided it was refined enough to be a de facto Battlefield game so they created the Bad Company series as a spinoff. They worked on the engine more and made it a lot smoother and more intuitive as far as gameplay goes but it still wasn't quite good enough for what they wanted it to be, so they used Bad Company 2 to work on it even further. and after seeing technical screenshots and DICE's commentary on the development on BF3, I honestly believe it's going to wrangle away the FPS hold that Call of Duty has, especially with all then negative mojo surrounding Activision, Infinity Ward, and MW3. a lot of people would say that's a bad thing that all the CoD kiddies would move to Battlefield, but Battlefield's always been exceptionally good at matching players with similar skill levels
