I get the feeling that to get decent exp at LHC you're going to have to spend way more NX than training on 2x/4x ever cost. Namely, cube your gear so you can do at least 30m DPM, or gtfo.
It's true to a lesser degree everywhere. People with lots of NX train faster, and boss way faster, than people without. Pre-BB, at least when you bought a 2x card, single-use or monthly, you got your money's worth. You could MTS or do offers or mow the neighbor's lawn for $2 - and get 4 hours of 2x (barring unexpected mishaps). Post potential and BB, I've had bad luck days / items, where I used 30 or 40 cubes at a time without increasing my damage range (and therefore, training speed) one tiny bit. I absolutely hate gambling. I really wish potential items could be MTS'ed, then at least I'd have the option of spending my NX knowing exactly what I get in return. (The selection in Kradia FM is ... not very big)
And don't get me started on family rep 2x.
