Unmaxed PS + SB will come back to haunt you. Don't get Iron Body except with your spare points at the end, after you max Power Strike and Slash Blast.
If you want better defense. Hmm. Well, the problem with most defense solutions is that you sacrifice attack power, which is always the most important in Maple. (Potions are cheap, leveling speed is precious.)
Bottom line is, you'll have to use more potions when you level up more. Sitting to heal HP gets really inefficient after a while. You can reduce your pot usage various other ways, of course. As you level, though, pot costs will become less significant, at least until mid-third job when you start to take on much stronger monsters.

- You could use tops and bottoms. They have more defense than overalls, and more possible stats, but good luck finding good enough DEX pants with your funding. You need to still keep your DEX low, and a 100%ed level 35 overall is the cheapest equip option there.
- You could go 1H and use a shield.
- Most viable option for you: Buy Grilled Cheeses in NLC. They last for 30 minutes and give pretty good DEF. They're cheap, too. They're definitely worth it to reduce your pot usage if you don't mind pressing another key.
- You could also get Power Guard before Rage. Power Guard is a very good defense skill, and Rage can be made up with Warrior Elixirs. That probably won't save you much money, because Warrior Elixirs are expensive, but it will increase your damage a little, since PG returns damage to the monsters.
- You could save up money and get your Zhelm at level 50. Zhelms have 150 WDEF and 150 MDEF. Plus, the accuracy Zhelms give will be great for you, so you can add more to STR.
