What is your current budget?:
$250
What part are you looking for? Why do you need it?:
New Laptop Computer with the following minimum basics or better
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
2.1 ghz processor
3gb ram
250gb hard drive
cd/dvd drive
3 usb ports
keyboard with numpad
wireless b/g/n card
6 cell battery with 3.5 hours battery life
no webcam or microphone (although if the computer's cheap enough it's fine if it has them)
1 year or longer warranty
Shopping around because GMER caused chronic lag and slowness on my computer that nothing seems to fix, not defrag nor shutting down all excessive and unnecessary windows services. I've got 40 gigs free space and normally around 500-700 out of 2000 RAM used. It's slower than when I had 900-1200 ram used and 5 gigs free prior to GMER, but when I still had that before cutting down on used ram and space it was even slower after running gmer. Basically I can't think of any other options other than trying the same useless cookie cutter fixes or paying geeksquad $100+ an hour to tinker around trying to find a problem that they probably can't fix without more money. Not to mention the invasion of my privacy. It's just more appealing and cost effective to swap comps.
What parts are in your current computer? Be as specific as possible. Links to Newegg/Tigerdirect are best. If you have a pre-built, include the make and model.
Toshiba satellite M55 bought December '05 and opened June '06
Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP3
1.8 ghz intel centrino single core processor
2gb ram
100-120gb hard drive (92 gigs of space available, including what's taken up by the OS files and such)
cd/dvd drive
4 usb ports
keyboard without numpad
wireless g card
battery with a few hours battery life
no webcam or microphone
Chronic lag and slowness caused by recently running the computer raeping GMER once
How do you intend to use this new part or new computer? What's the heaviest load it's likely to encounter?
foobar2000 running
media player classic playing a 720p video
Grinding/Questing/Party Questing in Maplestory Windowed Mode
Firefox with 5-7 adblock subscriptions and 10+ tabs open, a few of which are youtube videos in all their flashy resource hogging glory
All at the same time. Multitasking FTW.
or
Maplestory Windowed Mode bossing with a large group of players and a clusterfudge of lag inducing skill effects during Winda's peak hours
or
Hanging out in MapleStory Windowed Mode Windia's FM1 during peak hours with OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND other lag inducing players all spamming up the map with S> and B> and ADVERTISEMENT and just plain old LULZ.
The comp should be able to handle most of what Maple, the greatest raper of processor speed ever, has to throw at it.

The US of unemployment, stagnant wages and a looming government shutdown that threatens anyone who relies upon government programs/services to make up for the failings of an epicly deregulated private sector caught up in a fever of greed, excess and a redistribution of wealth BAM POW straight to the top. In "Fake America," where people aren't self made billionaires who became self made simply by being born into a wealthy family, $400 is just too much for a computer. So yeah, not expecting anyone to find a comp that fits my budget for until a year or two later, but this is worth a shot. The cheapest I've found is an Acer Aspire AS5336-2460 at Office Depot for $330. It's $80 more than what I'm willing to spend on something that'll be obsolete in 2 years, private sector profits and chinese slave labor be damned.
