You can like whatever music you want for whatever reason, it doesn't have to be meaningful to you. I'm not too picky on this, because people listens to certain genres for their own reasons, and it's really pointless to ask. I really can't even answer it if you were to ask me why I like J-Pop. The only thing I like more than J-Pop/Rock would be Metal, and that really depends on what band it is. There are actually people that listens to music that they don't understand, but they look up translations anyways just to understand (I do this sometimes).
I got curious about one particular band, not because it's "kawaii desu", but because of how the band members are portrayed in the video, as well as what the meaning in the video implied. I didn't think this was cute. I thought it sounded nice.
