This question is mainly geared toward long time members. Sorry for those who haven't been here long. :<
Well, before I joined Southperry, I was happy all of the time. I loved life, I loved playing video games -- ESPECIALLY JMS (That was when the English community was very lively). However, that year, my parents also divorced... That killed me on the inside. I just grew depressed... Events here on Southperry up until now (most of you reading this will know what I'm talking about) also killed me on the inside. Having to go back to High School for another year (News to anyone? I don't think I've actually told this to anyone here... It's definitely not something I'm proud of.) due to major depression issues, I had to deal with some pretty ruthless teachers. "Mean" doesn't even begin to describe them. The only class I enjoyed was AP Japanese, because the teacher was like a grandmother to me and I just had so much fun learning the language, not to mention out-shining the foreign exchange student FROM Japan. Having those teachers constantly ridicule me and talk trash to me (in the teacher kind of way, where they can't get fired...) brought me down quite a bit. Then, since 2008, I've gone through the entire ordeal of my parent's divorce and MASSIVE change in things -- my family completely fell apart. It's obvious those things happen eventually, but the way it happened, it came out of nowhere. No one was expecting it and it hit everyone like a freight train.
From 2008 to now, I've lost all of my friends -- every single one of them. I haven't really gotten out of this depression state yet and I miss the days before joining Southperry, when I was extremely happy with who I was and what I did. It's like listening to people on here speak and subconsciously comparing myself to people made my self esteem and confidence drop like a rock. I was way better off before I joined Southperry than I am now.
As I look back to who I was in 2008 before I joined Southperry, I feel like I'm dead on the inside now.
How have you changed, if at all, Southperrians?
Just a note : Just because my change may be sad, it doesn't mean yours has to be too. It can be happy, it can be inspiring, whatever you feel it has been. Just post how you've changed since you joined Southperry. It doesn't have to be completely related to Southperry. It could be how anything in life has changed you.
