The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:


Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.

Based on what he did. I'd say strawman applies. Maybe your's does as well. Its quite rare for one fallacy to not have more than one label apply.

My mockery of your hasty generalization would not constitute a strawman because I used your actual stated evidence, not a corruption of it, I just did it in a manner that clearly pointed out the lack of numbers.

You changed a "few people" into "hundreds" and then you changed "posting honest concerns" into "terribly upset and rallying an outcry." That is a complete distortion of what I stated.

Honest concerns because they're afraid to be judged? Or know how it will turn out?

Some people fear being judged. Others might be afraid that this system will be open to abuse. Others simply dont believe it's a good idea.
Everyone is different and will have different concerns and combinations of concerns.
