You have but you can't use it. It's completely stupid logic wise. Any sane person would be cursing at the screen at the point in which you're allowed to use the Varia Suit.
It's also completely stupid logic wise to complain at the game for giving you a sense of difficulty. If you ran through the area with the Vaira suit, you wouldn't have a single chance at death, unless you sat with the Wiimote on the floor as you went to the bathroom and have Samus stand next to an enemy while you piss.
You can't tell me your blood pressure didn't raise by having to rush through the lava filled corridors as your health constantly drained and you had huge enemies trying to kill you. If you felt any kind of excitement, whether positive or negative, in those moments, the game served its purpose. You had fun.
