Fusion is as bad as Other M in terms of hand holding and exploration. Zero Mission is just a remake of the original, so it gets a free pass. Metroid Prime is how you do a 3D Metroid. Plus, it can be sequence broken, which opens up a lot of neat stuff. Other M? NOPE. Walk down this hallway, fight enemies, go through door for more hallway walkan. Oh noes, I am burnan...but thats ok, I'll just wait till Adam tells me to activate my Varia suit.
Sh'it sucks.
So you say, the only way a game can be enjoyable is if you can completely destroy the main flow of the game?
I couldn't care less if I could... I like doing what the game intended me to do. That's how a game is played and that's all I look for in a game. If I CAN do more, great. If I can't, no bother to me. A game is meant to be played the way the creator intended it to be, so that's how I play.
I personally felt like Metroid : Other M was great and had a good story. I couldn't care less what you think about it, since I won't let your opinions or tearing apart of the game destroy my opinion of it.
I can bring up other examples too, like with Super Metroid, how every time I went somewhere, I thought I was going the right way, but as soon as I found myself progressing, I found myself stuck because I didn't have a certain weapon upgrade, like that one door at the beginning that you needed a Super Missile for. As soon as I obtained that and passed through the door, LOLNO! I needed a Power Bomb.
